WORKSHOPS last approximately 45 minutes each with a break between each of 30 mins for tidying up and comfort breaks/meal.

The children will be shown various types of wax - parafin, tallow and beeswax and the difference will be explained. We will talk about the uses of wax - church tapers, wax effigies, mummification, rush lights, measurement of time.

A source of heat will be required to melt the wax in a double boiler consisting of a cauldon of water and a deep pot containing the wax the length of the candle. Children will be given the chance to make a pair of candle by dipping a wick into the wax.
