| Welcome
to the Historic Event Web Guide brought to you by History
Alive.
This
is the second year of the guide.
Last year we distributed
4500 copies and the guide ran to three reprints. Thanks to all the
events organisers and traders who acted as distributors.
In 2008 we hope to achieve
much more.
Our target is
10,000 copies which will be distributed to the general
public, re-enactors, museums and heritage sites at as many historic
events as possible throughout the year. It will also be on sale
at tourist offices, museums and stately homes and heritage sites.

Here
you will find listed all the Living History events in the UK and
some in Europe, that have been notified to us by the organisers.
These major events include Living History Displays, Re-enactment
of Battles, Sieges and Chivalric Jousts. Many events include historic
markets.
The periods re-created
vary from Ancient Greece right through to World War II. We
will be listing events by historic period at some future date. Occasionally
the event will be multi-period and allow you to "walk through
history". Some events may be: an individual demonstrator showing
a particular craft; a Living History tented encampment demonstrating
how people lived on military campaign; a manor house or stately
home turned back in time right through to larger scale spectacular
battles, sieges and jousts. |

This
guide will be published as an A5 booklet, 3-4 times in 2007 so that
those currently on sale will be as up to date as possible. This
handy A4 size will allow you to carry it in a pocket, a handbag
or the car glove compartment.
It is on
sale at a range of historic events. It costs £1.50 and
will include events from 2007 and 2008 just as soon as we are notified.
You can buy it by post by sending 6 second class stamps and a stamped,
self-addressed, envelope (SSAE) A5 envelope to:

| To
Search for an event
Click on
any of the MONTHS (on the left) or REGIONS
(on the right) or choose from the yellow menu bar at the top of
the page for other search alternatives.
Other search
options include your County or Local Council area, event organisers,
a general "any name" search of the whole site and (eventually)
by historic period.
You can see
the date(s) and name of each event. In a month or region you will
see basic details of each event - this is a free service.
If the organiser has paid to
advertise there will be a link to a more detailed page with directions,
activity details, admission prices, and contact information. |
