August 2007, 10am-5pm
On
the Home Front, 1939-45
Rufford
Country Park , Ollerton, Nottinghamshire
All allied and
civilian 1940s re-enactors, vehicle owners and enthusiasts warmly
invited! Visitors, why not join in with the fun by dressing
in period style clothing?
Rufford
was utilised by the Leicestershire Yeomanry in 1939 and 1940 before
subsequently becoming a training ground for the Coldstream Guards
and their Churchill tanks prior to D-Day. A perfect venue
then for a great weekend of 1940s nostalgia with living history,
displays, entertainments, music and song, plus Saturday evening
dance.
Watch British infantry in
training, explore the living history, take part in an interactive
display about the Battle of Britain or tank warfare, meet ATS and
Home Guard personnel, soldiers bound for D-Day, Land Army girls
and much more. Enjoy a 40s fashion show and join in with favourite
songs and dances.
Performed and presented
by the Ack Ack Living History Group, Ancient Wisdom ,
Hands on History , the Moonlight Serenaders, Royal
Norfolk Regiment Living history Group , UK Home Front ,
Virtue to Victory and others (to be announced).
