Festival of History

Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire

Set against the historic backdrop of Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire, Festival of History transports people through time in an action-packed event that takes them from Roman Britain through to The Swinging Sixties.  Visitors are able to experience and explore the richness and diversity of life in England throughout the last 2,000 years through the re-enactments of spectacular battles and encampments, traditional street markets, a fantastic line of up of live music, dance, food, fashion, children's activities, historical fly-pasts and an unrivalled celebrity lecture programme.

Each day ends with a grand parade of more than 1,000 performers and the weekend closes with the heart-stopping finale of the Knights' Tournament.  This year saw the first competitive medieval event for 530 years, where modern-day knights battle for honours in archery, sword fighting and full-contact jousting.  There will be scores to settle in 2006 and the final will again be played out at Kelmarsh.
