WARNING
-
Always
check with the site before you set off to an event.
Details of
an event can change and you may no longer wish to go. Or an event
can be cancelled at the very last moment either due to ill health
or an important death.
For example, my wife and
I were looking forward to visiting one of the Hadrain's Wall forts
that was going to host a display by Roman re-enactors. We had stayed
overnight at a remote youth hostel where we were the only guests
and the Warden did not stay on the premises. It had no TV or radio
and we did not listen to the radio in the car for the news.
When we arrived at Hadrian's
Wall we asked where the event was to be performed and were informed
that it had been cancelled. We enquired why and the person replied,
"It's Princess Diana". "What has she done now?",
we responded, in a polite manner. "Haven't you heard the news.
She's dead"!! Now this was very sad but we were still disappointed
at missing the display that we had travelled a great distnce to
see. Maybe not all venues have a policy of cancelling or closing
in the event of an important death and it would be difficult to
list all the policies for each venue.
SO check with the venue
before you leave. |
